 Green as jade, the Jiangxin Islet is embedded in the Yangtze River like a green diamond. The Islet is only 6km away from the city downtown. The 15km2 Jiangxin Islet is the home of 12,000 people, appearing as lying in mother’s arms, circled around by the flowing Yangtze River.
In recent years, the Jiangxin Islet authorities implemented the development policy of agriculture industry and tertiary industry mutually benefiting each other, and are determined to develop metropolitan agricultural tourism, aiming at developing the Jiangxin Islet to be a great vegetable garden, a great orchard, a great flower garden, and a great public park. By now, model agricultural park containing grape garden, quality orchard, rare vegetables garden, chive garden, and special aquatic products breeding base have come into being. The islet belt road and the pass-through road have been put into operation. The Jiangxin Islet has been titled as the only model base of metropolitan agriculture. The intelligent and diligent residents of the Jiangxin Islet is making full use of the agricultural resources, and taking advantage of the unique geographic position and beautiful rural scenery to develop tourist industry. The Grape Festival of the Jiangxin Islet has been a traditional activity in four continuous years to promote the tourism. The current development strategy explores a new way that not only meets the requirements of the development of Nanjing but also matches the actual conditions of the Jiangxin Islet.
For the time being, according to the objectives of taking lead in metropolitan agricultural development in the province and becoming famous in tourism and vacation spending nationwide, aided by series of preferential policies, the Jiangxin Islet government is doing everything in its power to attract investment to build the Islet to be a nationally known vacation camp in ten years, with ecological and agricultural characteristics appealing to visitors.
